MONTALCINO

Montalcino is located in the splendid Val d’Orcia, in the heart of Tuscany, in a hilly area with an untouched and agricultural landscape rich in history and beauty which, since 2004, has been registered by Unesco as a World Heritage Site.

Its territory consists of a single large hill largely covered by mediterranean scrubs and by alternate cultivation of vineyards ( only 15% ), olive gorves and arable land. The hill has numerous pedological environments as it was formed in different geologic areas. Loose soils alternate with other rich in skeleton, in particular marl and limestone.

The presence on the territory of slopes with different orientations, as well as the different altitudes ( from 120 to 650 metres a.s.l. ) determines very varied climatic micro-environments.

CASTELNUOVO DELL’ABATE

Molino di Sant’Antimo is situated in the south-east of Montalcino, close to the famous Sant’Antimo Abbey and more precisely on the slop that from Castelnuovo dell’Abate goes towards the more tormented and wild territories of Montalcino, in the direction of Monte Amiata.
